Waterproofing costs the same band in Kumasi and Accra: GHS 80-130 per m² installed for two-coat polyurethane. What differs is the threat: Kumasi gets about 1,400 mm of rain a year, Accra about 800 mm plus coastal salt. Kumasi roofs typically last 18-20 years; coastal Accra 14-17 years on a standard system.

What actually moves a quote
Area, access, roof height, parapet length, number of penetrations and substrate condition move price far more than city. Fleece at details is where the cost climbs, not across the open field, where it roughly doubles cost for no gain and does not extend design life.
Material per project — the figure most quotes get wrong
Plan on 1 kg of coating per square metre across two coats. That is the same in Kumasi as in Accra — the weather changes how long the membrane lasts, not how much of it you need to lay down.
- 5kg bucket (GHS 500) — 10 m² on one coat, 5 m² finished at two coats
- 10kg bucket (GHS 1,000) — 20 m² on one coat, 10 m² finished at two coats
One coat is not waterproofing. It pinholes and fails in the first heavy rains, and in Kumasi those come early and keep coming. Any coverage figure quoted to you without saying whether it is one coat or two is useless.
Verified on a completed job: our Amasaman concrete gutter and floor slab, 130 m², 13 × 10kg buckets = 130 kg = exactly 1.0 kg per m². Ask any contractor in either city how many kilograms their price includes. If the number comes out well under 1 kg per m² of your area, you are being quoted one thin coat.

The design life is how long the membrane is engineered to keep performing: 20 years. Anyone in Ghana offering a "20-year warranty" on waterproofing is quoting design life under the wrong heading.
